The shameless animals at Barbados Free Press continue to prey upon the misfortune of the victims of the Brittons Hill tragedy.

Those vile frauds are now using their blog to make claims of being relatives of the Codrington family and post political messages. The shoddy way in which it is being done is the typical style of Barbados Free Press.

i mean you could tell when poeple feel hurt/agony but such incidents, we had the tragedy @ Joes River and i heard Mia Mottley was on site, and she was questioned about the situation and just from hearing her speak , you could tell that she felt remorse, to me they were only 2 individual i saw that felt sorry that was Richard Sealy and David Thompson.

The least they could have done is wait until after the Codringtons’ bodies have been recovered and buried.

Government Of Barbados Has A Poor Record When It Comes To Paying Emergency Workers And Suppliers

When the Barbados Glendiary Prison burned down in 2005 it was the type of a national emergency that saw folks from all over the island helping out in whatever ways they could. Police, fire and and other emergency workers also called upon citizens and businesses to assist in ways that were only acceptable because of the immediate danger to life. Vehicles and special equipment – and even workers – were “requisitioned” by authorities with not a thought at the time as to rates of payment or when the equipment would be returned.

All that is expected – only reality as emergency personnel try to save lives in dangerous circumstances.

After the crisis has passed, the government should compensate people and companies fairly and quickly.

More Workers Unpaid By Government – But The Prime Minister’s Lexus 4×4 Has A Full Tank Of Gas!

We all know that this island has money problems, but it seems to us that those folks who were hired by the government to provide meals to prisoners at the temporary prison in St. Lucy in the aftermath of the 2005 riot should be paid for their services.

Apparently the government has a different opinion.

The most damning statement comes from the workers’ union – that in effect warned the prison workers at the time “You are suckers and the government intends to not pay you no matter what they say”

As I read the following story in the Nation Newspaper, I have to wonder about all the emergency workers and companies supplying to the Apartment Collapse rescue and recovery efforts. Will they be paid? When? And how much will they have to beg?

Still No Pay For School Meals Staff

SCHOOL MEALS WORKERS who provided meals for the inmates at the temporary prison in St Lucy still have not been paid.

Despite encountering this problem they have not spoken to their representative, the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) on the issue.
“We have not said anything because we would have warned them from up front early o’clock [about the arrangement],” said General Secretary Dennis Clarke recently.

“My understanding is, and I’m fully satisfied, the Ministry (of Education) did give them correct advice as to what they should have done before they got into the entire exercise.

We hope that the government pays folks and companies involved in the current rescue and recovery quickly and fairly.

Emergency services are presently at the site and news reports state that a family of four is missing. Brittons Hill Barbados – Building Collapse Into Cave

It is being reported by BFP readers that an apartment building in Brittons Hill collapsed into a cave at about 4:45am Sunday August 26, 2007.

I just woke up so I haven’t heard anything on VOB as yet except FM is playing “Tell your troubles to the Lord” right now.

10:44am Just Now On VOB: Prime Minister Owen Arthur and other members of Parliament are on scene with emergency crews. Building collapsed into a cave.

No names of victims yet. Nearby residents have been evacuated as more collapses are feared.

So, firstly condolences to anyone who has been injured in the ‘unofficially’ reported building collapse in Brittons Hill.

I cannot get official word on this as none of our local ‘media’ (what a joke) are reporting this as a real-time event.

Neverthless, hopefully there are no dead and any injured are rescued quickly. Reports of the building falling 100 feet into a cave are feasible, as Barbados is full of caves (as per Warrens and NHC building).

Further to this, we are now building flyovers on soft limestone rock, of which the substructure is uncertain.

  Unless people are in the way of rescue efforts why would police prevent your “Average Joe ” from any picture taking??….. Is there anything terribly gory to be seen??? Have bodies been recovered??

Branches of the Superior Court of Justice

There are three branches of the Superior Court of Justice:

The Divisional Court: The Divisional Court hears appeals from some judgments and orders of judges of the Superior Court of Justice and it reviews or hears appeals from decisions of administrative tribunals. It hears all appeals from a final order of the Superior Court where the award is not more than $25,000.00. The Divisional Court consists of the Chief Justice of the Superior Court of Justice, who is president of the court, and such other judges of the Superior Court as the Chief Justice designates from time to time. The Divisional Court is a descendant of the court of the same name in England, which is part of the Queen’s Bench division of the English High Court of Justice, and hears certain appeals.

The majority of Small Claims Court matters are heard by deputy judges, lawyers who have been appointed for a period of three years by the Regional Senior Justice to hear these types of cases. As result of court reform, no new full time judges have been appointed by the provincial government to preside in Small Claims Court.

The Family Court: In those areas in Ontario where the Family Court branch of the Superior Court of Justice does not exist, the jurisdiction over family law disputes is divided between the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Justice. Cases which have divorce or property claims are brought exclusively in the Superior Court, and child protection and adoption cases must be commenced solely in the Ontario Court of Justice. Each of these two courts has jurisdiction over child and spousal support, as well as custody and access claims.

The Family Court succeeds what was known as the Unified Family Court, which began as a pilot project in Hamilton, in 1977. Their usual response will be to DELETE your comments, and if you persist they might respond with the usual lie that “government operatives, using IP addresses traced to Barbados government offices, have started to attack them again”. But come back later and post a negative comment about Barbados and see for yourself what happens next.
