Beware of Barbados Free Press Frauds
Beware of the CYBER FRAUDS at Barbados Free Press.
I once used to support the blogsters at the so-called “Barbados Free Press”… until I realised what a MASSIVE SCAM they were trying to pull on the people of Barbados. I used to visit their blog and post comments, but that all stopped when I realised that they always backed out and disappeared whenever I emailed them asking for EVIDENCE about some of the stories they posted. All I would ever get were obscure excuses about how “dangerous” it was for them to say anything because the “government operatives” were “looking for them again”. Ask me what I think about them and I will tell you they are a bunch of liars and cowards. But they are also out for your MONEY.
Think about it… Barbados Free Press pumps out false allegations of political corruption in Barbados every day. They claim to have MILLIONS of readers. They claim to be one of the most popular WordPress blogs in the world. But if you go to www.wordpress.com you will see some information about the number of wordpress blogs and the number of new posts for the current day. I just visited the site and it said: “1,562,804 blogs with 55,726 new posts today.” But visit barbadosfreepress.wordpress.com and you will be lucky if you find comments from even TEN different user names in any one day… a dismally low figure compared to the 1.5 million readers which Barbados Free Press claims to have. How is that possible in a small Caribbean country which has a total population of less than 300,000 people? ANSWER: It isn’t! … It’s a LIE!
The answer to all this lies in the next general elections in Barbados which could be called anytime up to September 2008. Politics is a numbers game. Barbados Free Press is trying to trick people into thinking that it has broad-based support in Barbados, when the simple reality is that very few people in Barbados read their blog or even know they exist. In a recent act of cheap desperation, they tried to con people into downloading, printing and distributing their so-called “print edition” which has been another massive flop. As the date for the next election draws closer, you can expect to see a lot more fake stories being posted on their blog, all designed to mislead and confuse gullible and unsuspecting people. It is not 100% clear exactly who Barbados Free Press is trying to scam with their false claims. They could be using their blog as a means of sucking money from opponents of the current Barbados government. In that case it would be the leadership of the opposition party in Barbados who should be most careful of being tricked by these internet fraudsters.
As the weeks and months progress, we will soon see what else develops. What we need to make people aware of is the danger of falling into the traps of these modern day frauds, liars and crooks who use the internet to deceive and scam their victims.
If anyone from Barbados Free Press approaches you about donations to support their “cause for press freedom and free speech in Barbados”, or offers you any “special promotional deal”, please ignore them and don’t fall victim to their scam. Do NOT reply to any email messages they send to you, and do NOT click on any links in those email messages!
BEWARE! The age of cyber frauds and internet fakes has dawned upon politics in Barbados. Protect yourself and don’t be another victim.

Beware of Barbados Free Press Internet Scam. FRAUD!!!
I have created this BLOG not for any discussion, but just to warn people out there about a set of INTERNET FRAUDS who scammed me out of US $500.
Please BEWARE of a group of internet fraudsters who operate a WordPress blog called Barbados Free Press.
It’s all a BIG SCAM.
The person(s) behind it post a barrage of false reports about the lack of press freedom in Barbados and how the government there has been oppressing and harassing them. They complain about how the lives of their families are being threatened and how they have to hide for fear of being attacked. It’s all a BIG HOAX. None of it is true. It’s ALL LIES!!!
The fraud part comes in when they contact unsuspecting people (like me) asking for “donations to help in the fight for press freedom and freedom of speech”. Once they get your email address, they will start to send you messages about how few volunteers they have and how much work it is to get the message out to people in Barbados. They convinced me to donate some money to them, but after checking some of what they posted on their blog against what was reported in the online newspapers in Barbados, I realized that it was all just another type of 419 internet fraud. My suspicions grew shortly after I wired the money to them as instructed, because it was sent to a bank account in Canada. Who knows how much money they have already collected through this scam.
Please don’t be fooled by those shameless crooks, liars and frauds. Barbados is a beautiful country with lots of genuine, friendly, hardworking people. But these FRAUDS at Barbados Free Press deserve to be thrown into jail for ripping off unsuspecting innocent people. When I try to make complaints about it on their blog, they either block me or delete the comments immediately, so I was forced to create my own blog to warn others. Chances are the person(s) behind it may not even be living in Barbados. They use the names Marcus, Shona, George, Cliverton, Robert & Auntie Moses, but I’m pretty sure that those names are all FAKE and I strongly suspect it’s only one person using all those names.
I can’t believe I lost $500 of my hard-earned money by trusting those crooks.

In all fairness I do think the BFP should reveal this “information” thus giving the police a chance. In my case, you did not give the police a chance “to uphold their honour and citizens’ rights” etc since you never responded to my emailed request to pass on information re the threats made to me. I have already been a victim of crime and have had no problems with the police response and actions. However, the BFP’s non-response to my request, not even an acknowledgement of my email, are actions that have greatly undermined my confidence in you. I have not contributed in ages; I will read you sometimes. I submit that your rhetoric needs to be taken a step further and translated into positive action.*****************************

Firstly, let me apologise for all of us for not getting back to you in a timely manner. We were having a debate on whether or not to release the IP numbers because it is not as simple a decision as we would like it to be. We are not computer experts and frankly we are astounded that we have survived this long without our identities being revealed. We didn’t know if releasing the IPs would somehow lead to us being found, but our fears about the technical issue have been cleared up.
Someday when the story of BFP is told, hopefully folks will say “OH… so THAT’s how they posted and emailed without getting caught!” because if they are saying anything else we will have been discovered and in trouble.
While we don’t know much about you as a person (none of us have ever met you) and we don’t think much of your party’s leader or the DLP’s total lack of position or effectiveness on several key issues, we admire your personal courage for putting forward your ideas in an open political forum that is increasingly becoming dangerous for members of the opposition and their families.
We have made a decision to release the IPs of those who threatened you and others on this blog. We will publish the complete IPs and the exact time GMT that the threats were delivered – along with the wording of the threats. We understand that the internet service providers will be able to determine the exact computer and location of the computer – and thus the person making the threats – from this information
Insofar as what the police will do with them, well, good luck – because some members of the RBPF have unfortunately proven time and time again that democracy and the rule of law are secondary in their minds to serving the government in power.

After months of roaming wild and thinking that he could forever hide on the internet and continue to disgrace Barbados by launching all manner of vicious, shameless and idiotic attacks on our beloved country, government, media, businesses and citizens, his campaign of LIES, DECEPTION and FRAUD from behind the mask of the Barbados Free Press blog was dealt a telling blow in the wee morning hours of Saturday 15th September 2007 when BFPE insurgents significantly stepped up our attacks with the launch of… THE SURGE!!!!
The tables have now been turned and the cyber-vermin of BFP has been FORCED to moderate all comments on his blog. Please see his public admission below, bearing in mind that he has tried to wipe some of the shame off his face by spicing his post with an extra heavy dose of the usual lies:

botd.wordpress.com is simply another WordPress blog which someone set up, just like you set up your blog. If you go to the main page of www.wordpress.com and check for statistics which they offer about blog activity, the only link which we have found is:
Blog names in the WordPress community always appear BEFORE wordpress.com, such as:

BFP Print Edition STUNNING BLUNDER!!!!
The Barbados Free Press Print Edition (a poorly thought out act of desperation from a man whose internet blog has been reeling in recent times from unrelenting cyber-attacks of Barbados Free Press Exposed) has been dealt a catastrophic blow from which it will be very difficult to recover.
On 10th September 2007, BFP with its usual highly inflated fanfare, launched what it called the Barbados Free Press Print Edition, a pair of .jpg files which it encouraged readers to download from the BFP blog page, and then use their own paper, ink and time to print and secretly distribute as many copies of it as possible all over Barbados. It was another typical BFP scam and deception at work… BFP would simply prepare the layout and make it available online, while the donkey work (and expenses) (and risks) would be undertaken by anyone foolish enough to expose themselves to the public while BFP remained safe and hidden. The joint purpose of this ill-conceived effort was to present BFP as the champion of democracy and free media in Barbados, which is exactly the opposite of what BFP actually practices. We at Barbados Free Press Exposed have always predicted that this idiotic idea would be a big flop, and three days after its launch, despite the usual mouthings from BFP about how successful it has been, we are yet to see a single BFP flyer anywhere, especially in the city of Bridgetown. Neither have we seen any increase in the number of people visiting their blog. Simple common sense would tell anyone that BFP’s latest strategy was simply unworkable, though common sense has never been part of BFP practice. We happily prepared ourselves for the swift and natural demise of the BFP Print Edition, but what happened yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon, just two days after BFP’s Print Edition launch, has exceeded anything we could ever have imagined.
We received by email what appeared to be the two .jpg files which BFP has placed on their blog for download. We first scanned both files for viruses and tr0jans (the first set of files placed on the BFP blog for download on Monday were found to be infested with a backdoor tr0jan) and found the file to be clean. However, even we were shocked and stunned when we saw the contents of that flyer. By going the lazy route and neglecting the responsibility (and avoiding the cost) of producing and distributing their own material, BFP has fallen headlong into a pit of sharpened sticks, though we have no sympathy whatsoever for them. They cheaply, willingly and dangerously relinquished control of their production process and as a result they have tumbled headlong into the very trap of hatred and lies which they have been digging for so many other people. When printed, the flyer which we received looks EXACTLY like the original one launched by BFP on Monday. It carries their artwork, it carries their website and email information. But it contains content so vile and reprehensible, using altered mixed images of victims of a recent tragedy in Barbados and images of explicit child pornography, that there is certain to be a massive public outcry and backlash against the same BFP in whose name this flyer purports to be done. We at Barbados Free Press Exposed want to make it abundantly clear that we have nothing to do with this flyer. This new flyer, due to the nature of the content, has clearly become a matter in which the police would be involved. We have deleted the files from our computers and shredded the one print-out which we made from them. Regardless of who is creating those modified flyers (which could even be BFP themselves), we still maintain that BFP must take the full blame for their irresponsible actions. We also advise members of the public to think very carefully of the consequences of going out to distribute one set of flyers, and being caught and criminally charged for also distributing flyers showing this much more filthy smut.
BFP foolishly started this to get cheap publicity, but when those flyers hit the streets of Barbados they are going to get a lot more of it than they ever bargained for.
