BBC Caribbean Report
Betram Niles: “Hotelier Adrian Loveridge is also a newspaper columnist who says he would like to see good governance in Barbados. He told BBC Caribbean he was trying to see the no confidence motion impasse from both the perspectives of the government and the opposition.”
Adrian Loveridge: “I think there are certainly some unanswered issues with regard to the Hardwood Housing Factory Inc. and some very grey areas involving how the money was spent, how the money was injected into what the public weren’t aware of at the time was a public company owned by the taxpayer or 90% owned by the taxpayer, and I think the opposition has every right to bring up these unanswered matters.”
Betram Niles: “But having brought the matter to parliament shouldn’t the opposition be debating it? Why is there this tugging and fro-ing on this matter?”
Adrian Loveridge: “Well I think that the leader of the opposition Mr. Thompson felt that he didn’t get a fair hearing in Parliament. He felt that the speaker of course a member of the government side, was not totally impartial and I’m afraid I agree with him. He didn’t have the flexibility you thought a leader of the opposition would have to be able to call the motion and debate the motion at a time which was suitable to him.”
Betram Niles: “But the government appeared to have been saying all along that they’re quite willing to have that motion debated.”
Adrian Loveridge: “They said that but did that actually happen? It took two days for the motion to get to the leader of the opposition for his signature and then of course there had to be a particular period, I think three days after the motion was signed that it could be debated so it could never have been debated the first Tuesday that government gave the impression to the public, so when finally they did start to debate it after lunch of last Tuesday’s session they clearly felt they should go on with the motion of no confidence but the leader of government business then sort of stopped the debate and resumed normal government business.”
Betram Niles: “So do you see the governing BLP playing political games with this issue?”
Adrian Loveridge: “I honestly do. I’ve tried to look at it objectively from a non-political point of view and I think the leader of government business having repeated several times the importance of a motion of no confidence should have let the debate continue and give the opposition free and fair opportunity to debate the issues.”
Betram Niles: “But is that enough of a reason for the opposition to walk out of parliament and then decide to stay out of parliament as they are apparently doing?”
Adrian Loveridge: “Well I think the opposition felt that they had the motion on the table and that it should be given the time and the priority that the government had intimated that it should receive and that the Speaker quite clearly showed that he was not as impartial as most of us would think he would have been.”

Adrian Loveridge,
Does the BBC also know that you are a LIAR?
Is the BBC aware of the ANTI-GOVERNMENT and ANTI-BARBADOS blogging activities of this same Adrian Loveridge who claims to be impartial?
Does the BBC also know that you are a political activist with a grudge against the current Barbados government which FIRED you several months ago?
Of course you can talk to the BBC and spread as many lies as you like about OUR country, but do you think that there are no proud and patriotic Bajans left in Barbados who will rise up against you?
We will promise you this: You will pay dearly for spreading those lies about our country.
Time is longer than twine.
